There are two botanic gardens within Brisbane, one in the city and the other located at Mt Coot-tha. Both gardens managed and maintained by Brisbane City Council. The botanic gardens at Mt Coot-tha, founded in 1970, are considered Queensland’s premier subtropical botanic gardens with 52 hectare featuring more than 20,000 plants and approximately 5000 species.
